Enchanted Rock

Enchanted Rock State Park has the second largest granite dome in the US. It is locate near Fredricksburg, TX. Novice mountain climbers can climb to the top without gear on the "path". You should bring lots of water though. The climb is 425 ft in 0.6 miles. There are also several smaller peaks, although none have trails leading up the top that I know of. The climb and descent is also deceptive. When climbing, people think (including myself), "The top is just right there." Problem is, when you get "there", you look up, then you think to yourself, "Oh, that's the top." This continues for quite a while. When going down, it looks like you are about to come to a sheer drop, but when you get there, it is not sheer at all.
